INTRODUCTION
This training program is a perfect example of how to apply statistical techniques to the analysis of spatial data. It provides the geoscience ideas with a focus on oil and gas exploration in particular. the common practice of using Excel for geospatial analysis in the early stages of applied geology and exploration. Additionally, provided are advanced ideas for using the free R software for geospatial analysis through examples, along with an explanation of the statistical techniques and packages employed.
This training course is intended to assist geologists, oil and gas professionals, and data analysis professionals by removing the restrictions associated with using ready-made software. While this software is quite helpful, it restricts the professional's ability to apply their knowledge and expand the models they use because it uses pre-designed algorithms and "forces" the data into distributions appropriate for the models. This training program will teach professionals how to expand the functionality of commercial software using free or inexpensive tools, giving them unrestricted use of their own creativity.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course, participants should be able to:
- Learn the principles and practices of geostatistics, as well as the capabilities of Excel and the R programming language.
- Gain familiarity with the R packages that are available for the analysis of spatial data.
- Import, analyze, and evaluate the outcomes of spatial data
