INTRODUCTION
No matter how expensive and durable the system or equipment is, it will only function for a certain amount of time if it isn't properly maintained. As you add more systems, processes, and machines, your maintenance costs will soar, and deadlines will sneak up on your business before you know it. When systems and machines are properly maintained, failure rates are reduced, production downtimes are rare, and costs are reduced. However, because maintenance activities are expensive, they must be planned based on accurate predictions, as following the instructions in the manufacturer's manual alone is frequently insufficient because the environments in which the systems are used are very different from the laboratory environments, where the manufacturer has tested the systems.
With Big Data and IoT, maintenance planning and failure rate prediction have become more simpler, and the businesses that take advantage of these ideas are optimizing their maintenance schedules, cutting costs and downtimes, and outperforming their rivals. With the inclusion of agent-based simulation, machine learning and deep learning algorithms could be accelerated, and maintenance predictions could be made as close to actual maintenance as possible. This is because we could simulate the behavior of aging assets and new workforce behavior, or the introduction of cutting-edge technology to an aging workforce—something that is not covered in user manuals but is commonplace in today's industry.
