INTRODUCTION

Given that metropolitan areas have already been developed in the contemporary period, rural development is on the rise. The decision to develop rural areas must, however, take into account a number of factors, including the agricultural and financial expertise of rural development. The understanding of the right techniques and fundamental principles of rural development will be imparted to the participants of this course.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course the participants will be able to:

  • Describe and evaluate contemporary arguments on rural development with a focus on rural living conditions, the nation, organizations, markets, and the roles of agriculture and other rural sectors of the economy.
  • Assess past and present attempts at providing rural services, such as through infrastructure, research, and extension
  • Examine the impact of rural development strategies on equality, poverty, and financial status while taking into account the diverse geographic contexts
  • Understanding rural finance will help you evaluate agricultural and rural portfolios and analyze loans using the 5Cs of rural finance.
  • You will also gain an understanding of new savings and loan approaches that can be used in rural settings.
  • Finally, you will develop strategies to overcome the obstacles that rural development faces in terms of financial services.
